BRISTOL, PA (AUGUST 12, 2020)–Pennco Tech, a premier trade school in the tri-state region, has recently announced that Frank Homza, Sr., a Pennco Tech automotive instructor at the Bristol campus with a distinguished career span of 50 years, was presented with a flag that has been flown over the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC, from Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick.
In honor of Frank Homza’s 50th anniversary of teaching at Pennco Tech, Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick requested a flag be flown over the Capitol building in Washington, DC. The United States flag was raised earlier this past month and was presented to Homza for his 50 years of dedication at Pennco Tech.
Homza graduated from Pennco Tech’s Automotive Technology program on August 24, 1981. After serving in the U.S. Army, he started working in Education at Philco-Ford Automotive Tech Center, Wyndmoor, PA, in August of 1970, which became Pennco Tech in March 1973. Since then, Frank continues to be a full-time instructor at the Bristol Campus of Pennco Tech.
“I always enjoyed working on cars when I was younger and thought what a great way to make a living by being an automotive instructor. For over 50 years I have received inspiration from my students and I have always tried to provide them with an experience and skill set that will help them excel while making a difference,” says Homza.
Michael Hobyak, President of Pennco Tech, remembers meeting and shaking hands with Homza early on in his career, and now 50 years later, he is proud to shake it again. “Everyone at Pennco Tech is proud to have Frank as part of our instructional staff. His commitment and continued dedication to teaching his students and providing them with the education and hands-on training they need to succeed in the automotive industry are unparalleled. Once you meet Frank, you can see his passion for the automotive industry—but, most importantly, for sharing this passion with his students. We are honored that he has been with us for over 50 years and to help our students to thrive,” adds Hobyak.
Pennco Tech’s School Director, Fred Parcells said, “Homza is an outstanding instructor and this recognition is well-deserved.” “They say that teaching is not merely a profession, but a way of life, passion, and enthusiasm. This is truly the best way to describe Frank Homza. He goes above and beyond to inspire and motivate his students and this dedication definitely impacts their future. For Frank, it’s all about the students and helping them achieve their dreams. He has impacted thousands of students along his illustrious career, and he wouldn’t want it any other way,” adds Parcells.
