Dealoe Forney: How Pennco Tech Changed His Life

One of our students, Dealoe Forney of Voorhees, NJ, had enrolled in our HVAC certification courses in Blackwood after facing a tough decision regarding the future of his career. Now, he is at a new job that he loves and is putting the knowledge he obtained at Pennco Tech to work every day. Read on to hear what Dealoe had to say about his experience with Pennco Tech.

“My initial visit to Pennco Tech was an action performed on a whim. I was recently dismissed from my employer with skills in a field that no longer fit the lifestyle of my family … stuck with a choice to continue my career or go back to school to expand my skills, I chose to go back to school. Seeing the many openings for HVAC technicians, I figured I’d look into it some more.

“The first name that showed on my search was Pennco Tech. I called for more information on the program and the next thing I knew I was enrolled in classes. This could only be attributed to the confidence and passion of the staff at Pennco Tech. Each member I spoke with had a reassuring air about them. That was a tremendous help soothing the anxiety of [getting] back to work and providing for my family again. Though I doubted myself, the Pennco staff never let me give up without a fight.

“Enough cannot be said of how much Pennco Tech has changed my life. My instructors went the distance to ensure I would hit the ground running in the field. Financial aid thoroughly explored every avenue allowing me to attend class not worrying about the final bill. The student directors and President showed a genuine care for my success and well-being. They never faltered from keeping my best interests at heart.

“I would be remiss not to mention career services. Career services turned the confidence I had in my ability into action. They were able to bridge a gap I didn’t even know was there. I am now a First Class Mechanic at International Paper and love what I do. This position allows me to utilize not only the skills I’ve learned at Pennco Tech but the knowledge I’ve spent years developing.

“The Pennco staff has changed my life more than they would ever know and I am eternally grateful to them all. I have made my fair share of well-meaning decisions that haven’t worked out in my life as many of us have. Attending Pennco Tech without a doubt stands out as one of the great ones. For anyone looking for a positive change in their life, Pennco Tech will always be my first suggestion.”
