At our campuses in Bristol, Pennsylvania, and Blackwood, New Jersey, Pennco Tech offers a variety of robust career training programs to prepare students for in-demand trade careers, including our Medical Assistant program. Medical assistants are needed in every healthcare setting, from hospitals and clinics to primary care practices and specialists, and play a crucial part in ensuring these facilities run smoothly and seamlessly. Here, a graduate of the Medical Assistant program describes her experience at Pennco Tech and how we helped her launch a new, successful career.
Before coming to Pennco Tech, Nelida Bermudez was a long-time elementary school teacher and even owned a daycare center. She had to close down her daycare center, but she viewed it as an opportunity to gain new skills and pursue a new career. That’s when she found our Medical Assistant program.
“I wanted something different and a change in my career, and Pennco Tech offered me the opportunity,” she says.
Bermudez explains she has always been a “people person” and likes to take care of everybody, from children to older adults, which is what made the program attractive to her in the first place. When she took a tour of campus, learned about the curriculum, and saw the program’s up-to-date equipment, she knew Pennco Tech was the right place to pursue her education.
“When I walked into Pennco Tech, it was like they placed open arms around me,” she says. “They were very friendly, and that was important to me. Everything about Pennco Tech stood out to me. The instructors were very professional, and they showed me the program and lab. That’s when I knew that this is where I wanted to be, and I knew I was going to learn a great deal.”
Upon graduating in 2018, Bermudez received employment preparation assistance through Pennco Tech’s Career Services department, which sets up interviews with potential employers and helps current students and graduates alike get ready for interviews, write resumes, and much more.
“They helped me find a job right after I graduated from school,” she says. “Pennco Tech offers the best career services program for after you graduate.”
Her favorite thing about Pennco Tech, though, was the friendly, open, and warm environment she had the pleasure of learning in every day.
“Coming here every morning for seven months was amazing. I just wanted to come here every day,” she adds. “I made a lot of friends, and I still go to dinners and keep in touch with them. I am very happy with the decision I made to attend Pennco Tech.”
Bermudez is just one of many Pennco Tech alumni who are currently experiencing success in high-demand trade careers, such as the ones our Medical Assistant and other programs help prepare students for. Our robust career training programs are taught by knowledgeable instructors with real-life experience in the field they teach.
