So, what does a day in the life of a diesel technician look like? This will vary by workplace, of course, but most likely it will include working as a part of a team. Technicians work with customers, management, and mechanics to ensure that diesel engines are repaired and in good working order. There are work orders and schedules to consider, parts to order, and warranties to consult. Using skills learned in a diesel technician program, they also diagnose and repair diesel engine problems, while assisting in other repairs. The role of the diesel technician can include continuing education and acquisition of specialized skills, as they continue to gain experience in the diesel mechanic environment.
