What Work Do Motorcycle Technicians Perform?
Every part of the motorcycle is cared for by motorcycle technicians. As experts at diagnosing problems and often using computerized tools, they determine where the vehicle has problems. They check frames, electrical systems, and engines. Most motorcycle technicians are repositories of knowledge about a wide variety of brands and models. For older bikes, they must have expertise in modifying parts and become familiar with networks for ordering parts. Motorcycle technicians may also work closely with technicians who repair and customize motorcycle bodies.
The tasks motorcycle technicians typically perform include:
- Working directly with customers
- Engine maintenance procedures, including lubrication, replacement parts, and improvements

We focus on modern testing equipment and tools that assist in diagnosing problems. Students become familiar with electrical systems, transmissions, and braking systems.
Classes also cover automotive engine theory and performance. With our hands-on learning model, students learn how to use tools efficiently and get experience working on components, parts, and vehicles. They become comfortable in a service shop atmosphere and gain confidence with the knowledge and experience needed, all built into Pennco Tech programs.
We offer Automotive Technology programs at both our Bristol, Pennsylvania and Blackwood, New Jersey campus locations. Our, students who complete the program successfully earn a certificate in automotive technology. Students who choose to pursue careers as motorcycle technicians can seek further training and opportunities for working with experienced motorcycle technicians based on these credentials in automotive technology.
