How Long Does It Take to Become an Auto Technician?

You might be surprised by the reasonable length of time required to complete the outstanding automotive programs at Pennco Tech. There are programs at both campuses, in Blackwood, NJ, and Bristol, PA. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects demand for automotive technicians is likely to hold steady through 2030, forecasting about 69,000 openings per year. This may be the right time to take a closer look at what it takes to finish automotive technician training.

Program Length for Automotive Technician Training at Pennco Tech

Full-time students at Pennco Tech can complete our programs in 52 weeks or less. There are also part-time options in some programs. Plus, you can choose daytime or evening classes to better accommodate your current job or family obligations.

Our students receive automotive technician training that is both affordable and hands-on. The experienced, knowledgeable instructors in our mechanic programs offer their time and personal attention to every student. We want you to learn important basics and develop excellent skills, so you can work in your field of choice. With multiple start dates, students can apply and enroll in our mechanic school throughout the year.

Graduates of these programs earn a certificate when attending classes at the Blackwood, NJ, campus, while completion of the programs at the Bristol, PA, campus earns students an associate’s degree. Here is some more important information:

Duration and Location of Automotive Technician Training Programs

These automotive programs are available at Pennco Tech:

  • Automotive Technology – 52 weeks. Students can attend part-time, 12 hours per week, or full-time, 34 hours per week. Automotive Technology is offered on both campuses.
  • Collision Repair School – 26 weeks. Students can attend part-time, 12 hours per week, or full-time, 34 hours per week. This program is offered on both campuses.
  • Diesel Technology – 52 weeks. This program is full-time, 34 hours per week. Diesel Technology is offered at the Blackwood, NJ, campus.
